Your Job:As the Associate Footwear Tooling Engineer at Brooks you will support members of the Inline Product Creation teams during the creation of 2D, 3D, and digital prototypes to ensure our products to meet or exceed our technical, aesthetic and quality standards. You will manage 2D blue prints and review 3D process from prototype stage into commercialization to ensure products are produced and delivered on time. Your Responsibilities: · Work in collaboration with the In-Line team of developers, designers, factory partners and moldshops in the creation of new products, technologies and processes that meet expectations regarding brand integrity, design, product innovation and return on investment.· Ability to review and adjust technical blueprints (outsole/ midsole/ upper), upper patterns and materials with guidance from Tooling Engineer II.· Participate in meetings with product teams during various phases of prototyping to review, evaluate and update tooling requirements.· Learn and apply tooling best practices, standards; maintain effective communication and adherence with the product teams.· Manage the tooling files in Flex PLM at development stages.· Send 3D CAD models for Rapid Prototyping via .STL format. Includes: knowledge of STL theory and tolerance, and an understanding of 3D printer(s).· Communicate and execute the file transfer process as required with our US-based team members, manufacturing partners, mold shops, designers, and developers.· Assist in maintaining a comprehensive archival system of technical drawings and 3D files for the in-line product range as well as advanced projects.· Join weekly meetings and SPAM meetings with Asia development team, manage tooling tracking list and ensure smooth flow of work throughout product creation calendar. · Join all the mold trial and stock fitting trials with developers and factories to detect the manufacturing issues and ensure those are communicated and solved with the functional teams together in between China and US.· Check all the pre-form and finished components in person and partner with senior team members to confire parts are accurate against the blueprints.Qualifications:· Preferably hold a degree in a post-secondary discipline (ex. Associate degree, B.A, etc) and could be substituted with relevant experience.· Technical 2D or footwear bottom development experience and training (mid-sole, out-sole, molded components, etc.); 3D CAD/CAM training is a plus.· 3+years working with foreign manufacturers, particularly Asia.· Current computer hardware and software knowledge (Office, Outlook, Adobe Illustrator, 2D CAD, FreeForm, 3D CAD and CAM). Knowledge of Cadkey, FEA, FEM, and Crispin a plus.· Strong understanding of the working methods and cultural norms of source countries.· The ability to visualize in three dimensions, and experience with technical and manufacturing processes.· Communication, organizational skills and a willingness to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.· A passion for the running enthusiast and active lifestyle.At Brooks, we celebrate diversity amp; equity.
