Your Job:As the Engineering Manager, Footwear Engineering you will lead a team of tooling and pattern engineers focused on product technical expertise leading to best-in-class footwear craftsmanship . You are responsible for managing best practices and technical expertise around Brooks footwear creation. You will provide leadership and mentoring to team members to enable product deliverables that are manufactural, cost effective and meet performance/ quality expectations of the consumer. In this role, you will drive programs that continuously develop and grow the creation teams’ technical, operational, service and product knowledge necessary for success in driving The Brooks Way and creating the best running product in the world. Your position will serve as the conduit between a team of tooling and pattern engineers to the US and Asia based product teams.
Job Responsibilities:- Display an in-depth knowledge of the manufacturing process with the ability to manipulate the process in order to advance and achieve manufacturing techniques to enhance the overall performance of product.- Work with development teams to ensure materials fit and function meet Brooks requirements. Provide clear project direction and summary to both US and Asia based triad teams.- Partner with commercialization team to ensure product meets our approved product specifications, including functional and aesthetic performance specifications.- Actively contribute to seasonal projects and process through direct interaction with the footwear ‘Triad’ team members during predevelopment, concepts, development and commercialization phases to make recommendations and provide problem solving solutions throughout the creation process.- Translate information between tooling and pattern engineers and product triad teams in both the US and Asia. Serve as project manager for the Asia based side of the Footwear Engineering.- Review wear test shoes with product development and product assessment teams and offer support on fit, feel, ride comments and solutions as needed.- Act as the evangelist for Brooks Fit, Feel, Ride. This role will develop, deliver, and assist in the summary of seasonal project feedback to the product team.- Support technical best practices for manufacturing processes and document these standards to ensure consistent guidelines during the footwear creation process. - Support Brooks Academy technical training program, including building and creating modules that increase the footwear teams’ knowledge around the ability to deliver on Brooks Fit, Feel, Ride goals. This includes on-site training for Footwear Creation teams as well as other cross-functional teams, specifically translating training modules to Asia-based office local language.- Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual and online training, on the job coaching and hands on, learn by doing, practices in the creation centers. Develop training aids to fully support the program.- Partner with functional supervisors to drive best practices and identify the core competencies of their staff through review of training history and individual assessments to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training programs. Assist with mapping training plans for individual employees.
